Dr. Who and his spaceship Tardis were the main attractions at the annual New Year party held for members of the Pinner branch of the League of Pity—the junior section of the N.S.P.C.C. at Pinner Parish Church Hall on Wednesday last week.
The party followed the recent box opening of the branch, when £46 was raised.
The afternoon's entertainment included a sketch concerning the adventures of Dr. Who with Gordon Hunt—a friend of the league—in the name part. He made seven bodies disappear into the familiar police telephone box which travels through space.
Inspector L H. B. Hicks, of the N.S.P.C.C. presented badges to the children who had collected a certain amount and a book token was given to Michael Attwood for collecting £15 over the years he has been a member.
A further ten guineas was sent to headquarters as the result of a bring and buy sale, competitions and other events at the party.
