SKY has switched on to Asian markets with a £32million investment in streaming TV service Iflix.
The satellite broadcaster, which operates in the UK, Germany and Italy, is buying shares worth about £1.8million from existing investors and will work with Iflix "to identify areas of collaboration". Iflix, which has struck content deals with Hollywood studios and BBC Worldwide to offer shows such as Dr Who, is available in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. Rival Netflix has already announced a big expansion across the region. Sky's chief financial officer Andrew Griffith said: "Iflix has established itself as South-east Asia's most exciting streaming TV service."
