WORTHING'S number one Dr Who fan has hit out al plans to phase out the Tardis from the popular IV series.

Steven Welch, 14, says: "If it is true I think it is the worst mistake they could make."

The producers of Dr Who say they hose no immediate plans to phase out the doctor's police box lime machine — but the idea Is being considered.

Steven, who lives in Southdown View Road, Worthing, says: "The police box has become the trademark of the show. 1 don't think they should muck around with things like that."

He says he might decide to start his own petition against the plan.

Steven built his own version of a Tardis in the back garden of his home to celebrate Dr Who's 10th anniversary last year.
