IT'S enough to make Dr. Who shudder in his Tardis. For a Dalek, similar to the Doctor's enemies from the other side of the universe, who exterminate everything, has succeeded in capturing the vice-presidency of Birmingham University Students' Guild.
In an election featuring more than half-a-dozen human candidates the Dalek came out a clear winner, capturing more than 40 pc of the 1,700 poll.
About 40 students were fed-up with the way the guild was being run. So they constructed the Dalek which went canvassing on the campus and made rather threatening speeches. Several small students took it in turns to get inside and operate the controls.
The official duties of the new vice-president will be filled during the next 12 months by student Stuart White.
