Rose killed off as babe quits to 'see the world' June 16, 2006

DOCTOR Who babe Billie Piper has sensationally quit the hit show, in a move that will shock her millions of fans.

And these are her emotional final scenes, which see her character Rose Tyler killed off.

Billie, 23, had claimed she wanted to film a third series of the BBC time-travelling saga.

But she'll meet her grisly end at the hands of the Cybermen in the two-parter Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday, which hits our screens on July 1.

As the first episode opens, Rose faces the camera and says: "This is the story of how I died."

It is revealed she's a casualty of a war waged against Earth by the Cybermen and the Daleks, who make a surprise return to the show

The Doctor - played by David Tennant, 35 - Rose and her mum Jackie (Camille Coduri, 40) are caught in a trap by the aliens as they plot to destroy the world.

Sexy Billie said last night she had decided to quit because, instead of roaming the universe with the Doctor, she now wanted to take time out to see the real world.

She said: "I plan to explore India and Africa, and have a proper experience.

"I don't just want to go for 10 days I really want to go and live there and experience it all."

"Rose and I have gone on the most incredible journey over the past two years. I can confirm it comes to an end - for now at least."

Her shock exit from the show means bosses are now looking for a new companion for the Doctor.

And some big names are already in the frame, including Eve Myles, 27. She is set to appear in upcoming Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood on BBC3.

Show writer Russell T. Davies, 43, said: "It has been a wonderful experience working with Billie.

Future

"We will miss her and we wish her all the success in the world for her future. "The team have created a stunning exit for Rose. The Tardis is going on its scariest journey yet." Billie won't be leaving our screens for good - she has a Elmillion golden handcuffs deal with the Beeb and is set to star in Victorian drama The Ruby In The Smoke.

Doctor Who will return with a Christmas special but without Rose.
