THE news about the Beeb's revival of Doctor Who, with Christopher Eccleston in the lead role, has caused headaches at BBC South where they've been working on their their own version of the show. BBC South producer Bill Bagg has spent months labouring over his very own special Dr Who drama, which would have been split into five four-minute episodes and broadcast over the course of a week.
Now the big Eccleston venture has killed the smaller BBC South effort. Or, as a BBC spokesman puts it: "This was an idea that was talked about for a while, but it's not going any further."
