DR WHO, TV's favourite time traveller, returns from the past next month for re-run of his battles with Daleks, Cybermen and the evil Master.
BBC2 will screen seven adventures of the cult series, including an episode featuring the original Doctor, played by William. Hartnell, after a rare print of The Time Meddler was discovered in Nigeria.
It has already been shown with some scenes edited out in Australia and New Zealand and now will be seen again in this country after being reedited using modern TV technology.
A BBC spokeswoman said there were no plans at the moment for a new series but John Freeman, editor of Dr Who magazine, welcomed the re-runs and demanded new episodes.
The BBC said: "We have been inundated with calls from fans. We have still not decided which will be shown but there will be Daleks."
