[edit]

SHOW boss Steven Moffat has hinted that the next actor to play the Time Lord will be older than Matt Smith.

He admits he had nightmares after plumping for Smith, who was just 27 when he took on the role. The star, right, is the youngest ever to play The Doc.

Moffat, 50, confesses he was worried Smith wouldn't look right in the role. He tells Doctor Who Magazine: "I twitch every time we discuss the really young ones for the part.

"Mysterious stranger. Dangerous past. And 27 years old?"

Auditions are now taking place to find the actor to replace Smith, who will quit the smash sci-fi at Christmas.
