One of the most popular series on the Network is the DOCTOR WHO series. The Doctor, a visitor from the world known as Gallifrey, is unusual because he has two hearts and a body temperature of 60 degrees, and has the ability to travel through time and to regenerate. Thus far, six different actors have portrayed The Doctor, including Peter Davison, who is better known to some viewers as Tristan of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL.
DOCTOR WHO programs are produced in England. Why do we broadcast DOCTOR WHO on Wisconsin Public Television? Because we know there is a large group of loyal fans who very much want to see it and our mission, as a PBS network, is to provide alternative programming which cannot be found the commercial networks.
There is a strong moralistic theme to DOCTOR WHO programs because The Doctor is involved in a continual battle against evil. It provides wholesome, creative entertainment that the whole family can enjoy together. If you're a "Whovian," you understand. If not, not tune in next Sunday at 12 noon. You just may get hooked on The Doctor.
