All Whovians were shocked to hear of the death of icon Pertwee, the third and possibly greatest Doctor Who. At the end of April Spy had seen a healthy Pertwee at a Daemons day in Wiltshire happily signing autographs for fans. Within minutes of Spy's mum breaking the sad news Spypals were on the phone with their condolences - including one sick caller shouting "Exterminate!". Then Channel One asked me for a few words on the Pertwee era - although whether this was a sign that Spy is the future Clive James or just a sad Whovian anorak is uncertain. Strange business TV - you hang round for half an hour, speak for two minutes, forget everything and don't get a chance to redo it.. Goodbye Doctor - let's hope that whatever time and space Pertwee is now in, he's remembered his sonic screwdriver.
