MEDIC CALLED AFTER STUNT DRAMA
MATT Smith needed a real-life doctor to come to his aid when he collapsed during filming in freezing temperatures.
The new Time Lord actor, 27, decided to brave the icy waters of the Baltic Sea for a film shoot instead of letting a stunt double do the work for him.
But Matt landed in trouble when he went into the sea wearing just a loin cloth for his scenes. He said: "It was in St Peter-Ording, on the north coast of Germany.
"They said I could use a double but I'd worked myself up to do it, so I went into the sea three times. It was the coldest I've ever been.
"The next shot we did, we were running along the beach and I was suddenly so frozen I just hit the deck. I couldn't move."
Scarf
Matt told all about his scare, which happened while he was filming scenes for a movie called Womb, in the latest issue of Esquire magazine.
The star also revealed he thought he was destined to play The Doctor when he was in his teens.
He said: "At university I had a big coloured scarf. People would say: 'All right, Doctor Who?' I rather liked it."
But Matt reckons the Doctor won't have any time for romance when the hit BBC sci-fi show returns at Easter.
He added: "He's too busy. If he stopped saving the world, he would be in real trouble."

John's dream match
JOHN Barrowman has revealed he once stalked former football ace Jamie Redknapp. The Torchwood actor says the retired England and Liverpool midfielder, 36, is his dream man.
After spotting him in a store he followed him around and ogled his bottom.
John, 42, laughed: "I once followed him around Harrods.
"I sort of made eye contact and I was going to wave and say hello, but then I was like: 'I can't! It's Jamie Redknapp!' I got really embarrassed. Then he walked away and I followed him.
"I texted my partner Scott to say: 'I'm behind Jamie Redknapp and his bum is so cute!'"
