This is a quiz, so here are some questions. What does Tardis stand for? What is the home planet of the Daleks? Who are the sworn enemies of the Rutans? Don t know? Don t care? Getting tired of my questions?
For those who do care, tonight's edition of Pointless is special because it features some of the stars of Doctor Who. The companions answering the questions are Frazer Hines, who played Jamie with Patrick Troughton, Louise Jameson, who was Leela with Tom Baker's Doctor, Nicola Byrant, who was Peri with Colin Baker, and Sophie Aldred, who played Ace alongside Sylvester McCoy.
Sylvester is also on the show, as well as Bernard Cribbins, who played Donna's grandfather alongside David Tennant, and appeared in one of the Doctor Who movies.
As well as all that, K9 is on hand helping Richard Osman give the correct answers. Osman was once asked what he thought of Doctor Who. Doctor Who's got everything, hasn't it? he said. It's got amazing stories. It's got a sort of soap opera behind the scenes of who's going to be the next Doctor. It's got great writers and an intelligence and a humanity behind it. Doctor Who has brought nothing but good things to the world. Right answer.
And if you like science-fiction, there is also a chance to see the film version of The Hitch-hikers Guide To The Galaxy on BBC2 at 5.20pm. It's not as good as the original novel, or the radio series, or the original TV adaptation, but at least there are some of those wonderful Douglas Adams lines. Such as the ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don t or in the beginning the universe was created, which made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.
