WHO'S THE PIPER?: Sylvester McCoy, currently Doctor Who on BBC television, returns to the National Theatre as the Pied Piper in the show in which he created the part last year. Adrian Mitchell's script, directed by Alan Cohen, with music by Dominic Muldowney, is closely based on the poem by Robert Browning; 800 primary school children take part in groups of about 50. Olivier, National Theatre, South Bank, SE1 (01-928 2252). Previews Thursday (matinee and evening), Friday. Opens November 4.
