THE new Dr Who should be a WOMAN — so says former 'timelord', Colin Biker.
And Baker — who is starring in HMS Pinafore, at Belfast's Grand Opera House — says it should be Dawn French!
Said Baker, 60 "Dawn would be ideal as the good Doctor. With all the regeneration going on down the ages in the series, there is absolutely no reason why Dr Who shouldn't be female.
"Don't let me hear any talk about there being no room in the Tardis for her. You'd be surprised at the space there is!"
Baker should know, he was the sixth Dr Who. He was also in hit trucking drama, The Brothers.
Said Baker "It's Dr Who everyone asks me about. I can't get away from the Doctor, nor do I want to."
Baker will be made an honorary member of the Type 40 branch — named after the model number of the Tardis — of the Dr Who Society, while he's in town.
"Colin Baker is definitely the favourite Dr Who of myself and my wife, Sonya," said Colin Dowling, who heads up the 160-strong Type 40 Society.
Baker added: "I love going to Dr Who conventions. l Imo spending the day with people who think I'm wonderful!"
