TIME FOR A NEW LORD TO ENTER THE GALLIFREY AS JODIE 'QUITS AS DOCTOR'
JODIE WHITTAKER seems set to relinquish the keys to the Tardis as rumours intensify that she has quit Doctor Who after three years.
Sources indicate that the 38-year-old actress confirmed to BBC bosses she won't be coming back as The Doctor after the forthcoming series, with one telling the Daily Mirror. 'It's all very hush-hush but it is known on set that Jodie is leaving and they are gearing up for a regeneration.'
The BBC, however, refused to be drawn on whether the reports were accurate, with a spokesperson saying: 'We won't be commenting on any speculation around Jodie's future on the show.'
Whittaker made history as the first-ever female Doctor when she succeeded Peter Capaldi in 2017. But she looks to have been lured away by the possibility of new opportunities.
Speculation now turns to who will become the 14th Doctor Who. The bookies are backing another woman to continue in the role, with Michaela Coel and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (4/1 and 8/1 respectively) the early favourites.
Death In Paradise star Kris Marshall is another possibility at 16/1.
