[edit]

THE fifth and latest Dr Who, actor Peter Davison, says he will wear immaculate cricket flannels in portraying the Tardis-travelling Time Lord.

In Australia for the Logies and filling in time with special appearances at Myer stores. Davison, 31, the vague and boozy vet of All Creatures Great And Small, says this is the way of showing the good doctor's eccentricity.

"I was asked to portray a Dr Who who was slightly eccentric and a bit more youthfu1 — and I immediately thought of cricket," he said.

Arriving in Australia last week, Davison was met at Brisbane Airport by a posse of pressmen eager for his words and keen to photograph him.

Although they've been screening his adventures since they began some 20 years ago, the crew from ABC-TV was noticeable - by its absence.
