I write in praise of Paul Cole's editorial 'Not the real McCoy' which referred to the return of Dr Who. Last week's excuse for an episode was more than I could bear.
The decline of Dr Who is due entirely to the current producer John Nathan-Turner and the BBC officials who have allowed Dr Who. which was once a British institution, to degenerate into the insipid pantomime garbage presented on our screens today.
They are quite happy to sit back and sell past episodes to the States and make fortune out of merchandise connected with the programme. But flatly refuse to plough any of that money back into what must beo one of their biggest money spinners.
Tom Baker obviously saw the writing on the wall and did the sensible thing by calling it day in 1981. He was the last of the true Doctors and is sorely missed.
The series probably only ham months to live and when it dies I sincerely hope the BBC will do the decent thing and bury John Nathan-Turner with it.

For me, the original Doctor, William Hartnell was a realistic scientist and his encounters with the army had believable flavor.
Give the producer lollipop, put him into a time bubble, release it from the Tardis near Andromeda Galaxy and let him walk back.
