DAVID ELLIS, writer, died on June 29 after a brief illness and will be sadly missed by his friends and colleagues in the profession.

Born in Manchester, he joined the original Manchester Repertory Theatre, and worked in repertory companies in the provinces — Bolton, Keighley, Crewe. Worcester and Derby — as stage director and producer, and started to write plays His stage plays include "The Paying Guest'". "What Shall We Do With Mrs Henderson and "Make Me A Widow' which was presented in the West End at the Comedy Theatre

He contributed to various TV series. including "Dr Who" and "Paul Temple," wrote over 30 "Z Cars" and the first television script for "Dixon of Dock Green."

In addition, he wrote many radio thrillers and comedies which have been, are still and will go on being produced in many countries.
