Since the marginal success of Dr. Who spinoff, Torchwood, BBC1 have been busy and made another spin-off aimed at children - The Sarah Jane Adventures, Sarah Jane Smith was the doctor's side-kick in the seventies. She hasn't aged much and has an adopted son Luke who apparently has been created by aliens from human DNA. He has a young bossy friend Maria and they start in a Grange Hill style school where green monsters lurk in the science block. So they are the Slitheen, arch-enemies of the Doctor. They hide inside fat bodies and fart a lot. There are Jamie Oliver school food jokes and a traditional cliffhanger ending until the next episode.
