After several light years of speculation, the BBC have confirmed that Our Friends in the North star Christopher Eccleston will be the new Doctor Who.
Christopher - who's best known for laying edgy roles in dramas such as tracker, Flesh and Blood and The Second 'Taming, and movies such as Shallow Grave 1994) and The Others (2001) - will play the show's ninth Timelord since William Hartnell first took up the role back in 1963.
'I am absolutely delighted to be playing Doctor Who,' Christopher tells Insider. 'Which way is the TARDIS? I can't wait to get started!'
