Children still look mainly to ITV for adventure and horror. The great exception is the Dalek programme. "Dr Who" (BBC-1, Saturdays), with a claimed 11 million viewers (many adults, of course). The popularity of this type of science-fiction weirdy has been one of the main trends in children's TV in recent years—ATV's successful puppet serial "Thunderbirds" is a kind of junior 007, making fun of machines and gadgets.
