TOY "Dalek" suits could put a child in danger, a road-safety official said yesterday.

The suits are 4ft.-high plastic copies of the Dalek monsters seen in the "Dr. Who" children's silence-fiction series on BBC television.

Yesterday Liverpool's Road Safety Officer, Mr. Benjamin Kinley, said: 'Once inside a Dalek suit with a domed helmet plonked over its head, a child might not 'hear or see an approaching vehicle.

"I shall protest to the firm which makes these suits." The Dalek suits, which sell at £8 each, are made by a Northampton firm.

A spokesman for the firm said: "We don't regard our Dalek as a road-safety hazard.

"The helmet is very loose-fitting. In our opinion it does not affect a child's hearing or vision."
