[edit]

That's what the fans of "Dr. Who" call themselves.

Although this wacky sci-fi show has only been shown recently in the Bay area (Saturdays at 8 p.m. on WEDU, Channel 3), the program has been around for years.

It has a loyal following in England and the United States. where thousands of Whovians gathered recently for a Dr. Who convention.

Encouraged by the local response to "Dr. Who," Channel 3 has invited Ron Katz, the national president of the Dr. Who Fan Club, to help kick off the next pledge week on Aug. 21.

On that night Katz will host a "Dr. Who" double feature: "Underworld" and "Seeds of Doom."
