A CONVENTION is to be held in Chicago for the 20th birthday of Doctor Who, the world's longest running TV sci-fi series.
The show has a coast to coast cult following in America and a BBC Doctor Who anniversary special The Five Doctors will be screened by more than 80 stations throughout the United States on November 23, the anniversary of the first programme's first showing.
The convention, entitled Doctor Who — The Ultimate Celebration, will take place on November 26 and 27 and all four surviving doctors will be there — Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and Peter Davison, as well as at least 15 of the doctors' companions over the years. Doctor Who producer John Nathan-Turner will host the event.
Smaller conventions to mark the anniversary have already been held in several American cities.
