SUCCESS of "Dr. Who" is partly due to its lack of competition, according to the "Doctor" himself, Tom Baker.

Baker, 45, the youngest of the four Dr. Who's was in Brisbane to promote the 1979 series of the show.

He has been an actor since he was 22, and his roles have included a dog, a horse and a bear.

Baker was a monk in the Channel Islands for six years at the end of his schooling before he became an actor.

Baker said the "Daleks" the most successful of Doctor Who's foes, will return this year.

He has had to fight many different monsters. made of cardboard.

This year Baker's companion in the Tardis will be "Leela" (Louise Jamieson) and later actress Lalla Ward.

"Dr. Who" has been amazingly successful worldwide and is seen in 22 countries.

Baker receives mountains of fanmail from children and adults.

Dr. Who will return to the A.B.C. next Monday at 6.30 p.m.
