DOWN UNDER we hear that there is to be a new actor to play Doctor Who, but now that the show has become a ratings fiasco, will anyone of real talent risk their career and accept the part while disaster attends the series?

The shows's ratings have fallen because it has become ever more just a vicious and idiotic pantomime-in-space.

Can the BBC Head of Drama, Jonathan Powell, explain why he has ignored the unnecessary ratings decline of Doctor Who and done nothing for years? The series has been a large export earner for the BBC, and has created spin-off income, but only high ratings will promote sales.

If Powell is serious about supporting the show and wants a success, he must first appoint a creative new producer as a new actor will not be enough. If no one in the BBC wants to meet the challenge of the job, Powell should offer it to an outsider or " postpone " the show again before it becomes a farce.
