ACTRESS Deborah Watling, one of the earliest Doctor Who companions, died from cancer yesterday aged 69.
She played Victoria Waterfield opposite second Doctor Patrick Troughton between 1967 and 1968.
Her character, who was from the Victorian era, returned for a Children In Need short in 1993.
Born in Loughton, Essex, Deborah made her first TV appearance in William Tell, before landing a role in HG Wells' The Invisible Man.
After Doctor Who, she opened a boutique before returning to acting.
Her brother Giles Watling, MP for Clacton, said: "She was a lovely girl, bubbly and vibrant.
