PHILADELPHIA — The first American Doctor Who Festival Tour, sponsored by the Doctor Who Fan Club Of America will be in e Philadelphia at the Walnut Street Theater July 19 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Produced by the British ,Broadcasting Corporation, and aired on many public television stations in the U.S., "Doctor Who" is the longest-running science-fiction program in television history. This year marks the show's 20th season in the United Kingdom. "Doctor Who" Is aired on WHYY TV 12, Wilmington, Monday through Friday at 11 p.m. as half-hour serials, and Saturdays at 4 p.m. as feature-length movies.
On hand will be actor Jon Pertwee, the third of five actors who have portrayed Doctor Who and actress Lis Sladen, who portrayed the fourth doctor's traveling companion.
The festival will feature "Doctor Who" films which will include the very first "Doctor Who" program ever aired. These have never been shown in the U.S.
Tickets are available on a reserved-seating basis and may be obtained at the Walnut Street Theater by calling 215-574. Tickets prices are $10 and $15.
