IN Monday's review of the new Dr Who ("New Doctor's a real tonic", April 17), Matt Baylis writes that he cannot remember the Seventies version having such a social conscience. What a memory. It was really in the Seventies that the Doctor became a moral crusader, with stories ranging from global pollution (the one with the giant maggots) to the idea of wiping out an entire species (wiping out the Daleks - or not, as it turned out).
It's nice to see the new stories having social relevance again.
