FORMER Dr Who, Tom Baker, was among guests evacuated from a appearing in the comedy "Educating Rita", at Newcastle's Theatre Royal.
Police have confirmed that the blaze — in the 98-bedroom Royal Turks Head Hotel in Grey Street, Newcastle — was started deliberately.
Television star, Mr Baker, was appearing in the comedy Educating Rita, at Newcastle's Theatre Royal.
Members of staff evacuated him with other guests when a small fire was discovered. A hotel spokesman said damage was 'minimal' and the fire was brought under control within minutes.
