Dr Who is running out of time

TIME has caught up with Dr. Who.
The BBC's current time-traveller Peter Davison Is to quit when he finishes recording the latest series in January.
By the time the episodes are screened, Peter, the fifth doctor will have been in the role three years — the time limit he set when he took over from Tom Baker.
Now the search is on to find a replacement ... and it could be a woman.
Said Peter yesterday : " I am certain that they will have to make a radical change from the way I played the role. They may choose a woman."
During his stint, Peter, 31. became a cult figure in the United States, where the serial has a huge following. "Since the beginning of this year it has been a battle whether I go back on what I said at the beginning. I have decided to stick to what I said."
Peter's last series will be his third in the role, but he will also be seen in The Five Doctors, a 90-minute special to celebrate the programme's 20th anniversary, and three complete Dr. Who adventures to be screened in August.
Producer John Nathan-Turner said an immediate search would begin for the new Dr. Who.
