[edit]

The owner of Britain's largest museum of Dr Who memorabilia is hoping local palnners will allow him to stay in business.

Toy magnate David Boyle is converting a farmer wool mill in Llangollen into his Dapol Toy factory and Dr Who Museum.

His planning application, which is partly restrospective for work already done, is lodged with Glyndwr District Council.

Planning officers are recommending councillors beck the scheme, which will create a 18,000 sq ft museum at the Lower Dee Mill. If passed, the ground floor will contain model railway, toy factory exhibition and cafe.

The first floor will house a Dr Who exhibition and shop, and the top floor will be home to a model railway museum and an exhibition. Mr Boyle claims the business could bring 20 jobs to the town and attract 50,000 visitors a year.

No formal objections to the scheme have been raised. But letter from private individual points out that there is a current right of access over the Lower Dee Mill site to the nearby Dee Mill Place, which is not mentioned in the application.
