[edit]

DR. WHO, now battling again with the Cybermen, comes up against a top-line ITV rival tonight - a one hour new futuristic series timed to start at 5.15 and break the doctor's monopoly.

"The Crash" is about the adventures of the crew and passengers of a suborbital flight which crash-lands on a planet inhabited by giants. They even get attacked by giant goldfish.

Gary Conway is Steve Burton, pilot of the runaway ship. Heather Young is the stewardess who supplies the glamour. The series is created, directed, and produced by Irwin Allen. In case the name doesn't mean much, he was the man behind "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea." and "Lost in Space."

I would say that even Dr. Who, perennially death-proof though he may seem, will have a hard time standing up to the competition.
