[edit]

Meanwhile, another Saturday night show is to be reborn. Doctor Who, which people once quite liked, is to have a new star, and the favourite is the "actor and LGBT advocate" Olly Alexander.

Of course it is. The latest series, starring Jodie Whittaker, got the lowest ratings for the show in 58 years and a magnificent 16 per cent audience score at Rotten Tomatoes. Bad writing, bad acting and a hideously woke script were cited as reasons for its dismal failure.

One assumes the next series will be even woker. Go on, Beeb. Go the whole hog. I want furious transgendered Cybermen, and Daleks shrieking "Decolonise!". You might as well. Nobody will be watching.
