FANS of TV timelord Dr Who are planning to swamp the BBC with calls for a new series.
Addicts are upset over rumours that the long-running show has been axed. They hope to jam the corporation's switchboards with half a million phone calls in a day of action on November 30.
Protest coordinator John Jeffrey is confident 25.000 science fiction fans will each ring 20 times.
He said yesterday: "We must show the BBC that the people who pay their salaries have a say."
BBC drama spokesmen Alan Ayres denied that the BBC had ditched the Doctor. originally played by William Hartnell and last portrayed by Sylvester McCoy.
Mr Ayres said "We are hoping to make another series in the future and we're talking to a number of independant producers about how this could be done.
"The formula for a new series has to be absolutely right — as I'm sure Doctor Who fans will agree — and that takes time."
