Hot August Nights are perfect for watching WFSU-TV

It's hot outside, too hot to do much.
Stay inside. Watch TV. Write checks, because it's "Hot August Nights," one of two WFSU-TV Channel 11 (cable 8) annual pledge drives.
The 10-day drive, which began Friday night, is chock-full of the types of programming that regular viewers say they most enjoy.
And why not? After all, officials at WFSU — a public station run with money from the state and federal government and donations from local patrons — are hoping that those regular viewers will respond to the tune of $70,000.
The August pledge drive is the smaller of the station's two, and last year netted $63,365.
The larger of the two drives — a two-week affair held in March each year — typically draws between $120,000 and $130,000.
During both drives, station officials take to the air during breaks in the shows to ask viewers to phone-in pledges and mail checks.
And here's a look at some of the more interesting offerings among those shows:
