[edit]

I T V are to have a T V space fiction series as a challenge to the B B C's "Dr. Who."

ABC TV, in a co-production deal with American International Pictures, will spend £650,000 on the series — half-hour programmes set in the year 2500.

New film techniques to make tiny models of rocket ships and Space cities appear life-size will be used.

But actors and actresses, not puppets, as in other I T V Space shows, will take the leading roles.

Mr. Howard Thomas, managing director of A B C T V, said last night the series would be part of a £2,000,000 investment in new programmes this autumn.
