... It was gratifying to see an original interview with Tom Baker (STARLOG #34). Many of the quotes used in other articles have been repetitions of other interviews or similar paraphrasings. It is a misrepresentation to say that the Los Angeles con was more successful than the British Panopticon (not the "Pan Opticon," as printed in the article). Named for the Time Lord Ceremonial Hall, Panopticon was a private convention of the Dr. Who Appreciation Society and membership was deliberately limited to 375 people so all attendees would be able to enjoy it to the fullest. It was a non-profit convention and very successful. There were many guests from the BBC, including Tom Baker. The BBC also supplied actual props and costumes from the program for exhibit. The real success of a convention can be judged by how happy the attendees were. By this criterion, Panopticon was an overwhelming success.
