"In celebration of 'Doctor Who's' 20th TV birthday November 23, 9,500,000 fans in Lionheart Television's 107 sold markets from coast-to-coast sang 'Happy Birthday'—including 10,000 in Chicago who attended the biggest-ever 'Doctor Who' celebration convention in the U.S., a weekend-long (Nov. 26 - 27) salute attended by the series' cast and BBC Enterprises key executives, Terry Sampson and John Harrison, who flew in from London for the gala occasion," it was announced by Wynn Nathan, President of Lionheart Television.

"All of these festivities have had a big impact on our sales of 'The Five Doctors' 90-minute TV Special telecast locally in all markets on November 23—as well as our 172 'Doctor Who' half-hours and 51 two-hour movies," Mr. Nathan continued.

42 markets recently sold include: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Washington DC, Cleveland, Atlanta, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Portland OR, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Buffalo and Salt Lake City.

The "Doctor Who" series, still in production, and which has featured five different actors during its 20-year run, is currently being distributed in the United States by Lionheart Television. 172 half-hours are available starring Tom Baker (the fourth Doctor).

In addition to the half-hours, "Doctor Who" is also available from Lionheart for telecasting as feature-length movies.

A BBC-TV hit since 1963, "Doctor Who" is now seen weekly by 119 million fans in over 50 countries via BBC Enterprises. Lion-heart Television has been distributing the series in the United States since 1981.
