I CAN at last offer some explanation for those dreadful new underground ticket machines which rarely work, and are used less often than rarely. The recently-appointed design director of London Regional. Transport. Jeremy Rewse-Davies, was, in an earlier life, a joint designer of the Dr Who Daleks. They too were noted for their hostility towards humans and constant malfunctions.
