SANDRA DICKINSON has dramatically accused her ex-husband Peter Davison of damaging her acting career by repeatedly making verbal attacks on her in interviews. Such is the bitterness Davison feels towards his ex-wife that he still refuses to speak to her, 12 years after their acrimonious divorce.

"The trouble is, he's obviously still angry with me. I don't know why. I guess, for existing," says American-born former Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy star Sandra, 56, who is now happily ensconced with new lover, actor Mark Osmond, who is 20 years her junior.

"I'm convinced all the bad publicity damaged my career because Peter made me out to be some neurotic, vicious bitch," she says.

Petite Sandra —who has a 20-year old daughter, Where The Heart Is actress Georgia Moffett, by her ex husband—says she is often "aghast" at what the former Dr Who and All Creatures Great And Small star Davison has said about her.

Davison, now remarried to actress Elizabeth Morton, with whom he has two small children, has claimed Sandra's obsession with having a second child destroyed their previously happy marriage; that she was obsessed with cleanliness and vacuuming and that she pursued him relentlessly for financial support following their break-up, leaving him facing bankruptcy. He has also dismissed their 14-year marriage as "just a phase".

While Sandra believes Davison's unkind comments harmed her professionally as well as personally, she is now getting her career back on track and is touring in a stage adaptation of Henry James's novel Daisy Miller.

"For 10 years I had terrible things written about me. I was aghast at what he said about me. I was also baffled as to why he was doing what he was doing. I didn't want to get into slagging him off because I'd had many, many happy years with him. I never wanted to get into this morass of public mud-slinging," she explains.

These days, the couple have no contact and last encountered each other in the maternity ward nearly four years ago after Georgia, then only 16, gave birth to her son, Ty.

Sandra adds: "I wish Peter well and I will always feel affection towards him because he is the father of my only child. I just wish he wasn't so angry."
