Sci-fi convention should be rescheduled

Editor: I want to tell you that last January or February (1986), there was a science fiction convention planned at the downtown Holiday Inn. There were also comic-book trading, movies, and fan and costume contests planned. I was told by someone who did not want to be identified and was working at the Holiday Inn that the bookstore who had arranged the
convention had canceled it as well as the planned events. They did not notify the public of any change. I do not think this was in the best interests of the people of Gainesville, for the teens as well as the college students. There should be another convention. Another out-of-town organization should be allowed to hold a convention such as the Orlando or Jacksonville Sci-Fi Con or the Dr. Who Fan Club of America.
