A DROMORE youngster staked his claim to become the new 'Dr Who' when he visited the studios where his favourite TV programme is made on Sunday last.
Eight-year-old Adrian Beattie had a thrilling adventure as he took control of the good doctor's famous Tardis', while also rubbing shoulders with villians from the show including 'The Daleks' and The Cybermen'.
The day was made extra special as it was the first time the BBC Wales studios in Cardiff opened its doors to the public.
Adrian was one of 100 lucky competition winners who had a unique chance to see what goes on behind the scenes of the iconic TV programme, as well as its spin-offs "Torchwood' and 'Sarah Jane Adventures.'
He also visited workshops, video editing suites, six sound stages and a props store.
Adrian won the fantastic prize, which was part of a Children In Need competion, after successfully answering a phone-in question.
"Adrian was so shocked when he received a phone call to tell him that he'd won," said his mum Kathleen. "He even received a special key in the post which allowed him to enter the Tardis when he arrived at the studio."
Adrian also took part in re-enactments of the programme, received a guided tour of the set, a sneak preview of the Dr Who Christmas Special and visited the underground set featured in Torchwood
Afterwards, he travelled down the shaft of a coal mine in South Wales.
"It was a very exciting day for Adrian, especially as he was amongst the first people to gain access to the Dr Who set and it was great to see the smile on his face," said Kathleen.
