IT MAY BE be summer outside, but London's fashion victims are already scouring markets for this autumn's must-have — the Dr Who scarf. For their autumn/winter 1996 collections, designers have been inspired by Tom Baker's neckwear. It beamed up on the catwalks of none other than Christian Lacroix, Anna Sui, Chanel, Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti, Chloe and Missoni.
It's official; the Dr Who scarf will be next season's long good buy. It has to be long, skinny and preferably stripey, and worn with the new selection of maxi coats, ankle-length skirts and long slinky dresses. Look out for tweedy and stripey versions with the Gordana label (from £30), or scour second-hand shops for an item that time forgot ... until now. Alternatively, you can get knitting. Fast.
