Doctor Who, BBC2, Friday
TV Just hasn't been the same since the good Doctor time-warped Into the sunset nearly three years ago. There are no plans for a new series but, followng its special retrospective of a fortnight ago, the BBC is showing a Doctor Who series for each of the Doctor's seven 'identities': from William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker to Sylvester McCoy. This week, in part three of The Time Meddler, the Doctor (played by William Hartnell) travels to 11th-century Northumbria to tackle a monk with the power to bend time. The special effects may seem creaky by today's standards, but fans of the Time Lord won't mind one bit.
