There you sit in your living room, savoring your morning-afternoon newspaper and secure in the knowledge that your 3-year-old is soaking up the educational wonders of Big Bird. But suddenly "Sesame Street" is over, and before you can change the station, it's 5 p.m.—time for "Dr. Who." Normally, the Tribune's exclusive Gobbler Turkey Detector ignores Ch. 2, but this "Dr. Who" activated the Gobbler's long-dormant social conscience. There's nothing really upsetting about this weird science-fiction show—not for adults, who realize that the characters are dressed in tin foil and the sets are made of cardboard. But kids have a way of being both fascinated and terrified by quaint little episodes such as the recent "Robots of Death." The Gobbler has detected parents so concerned about "Dr. Who" that they have taken to watching "The John Davidson Show" from 4 to 5 p.m. just to avoid the uneasy transition to "Dr. Who." Need we say more?
