If you're conversant in Timelords, Daleks and Cybermen, then you're no doubt a fan of British sci-fi TV series "Doctor Who," broadcast in syndication Friday nights on Iowa Public Television. The series, which launched in 1963, follows the adventures of a do-gooder, time-traveling alien ("the Doctor') who roams the universe.
Now a group of local "Whovians" is inviting folks into its "Whoniverse." The Universal Network of Iowan Timelords (UNIT) will hold an "Exiled in Iowa" meeting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Urbandale Public Library, 7305 Aurora Ave. If you don't know your TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) from your sonic screwdriver, don't worry. The meeting is open to the public and will cater to the uninitiated. Goodies include rare videos, food, games, and much more. Call Jeremy Bement, UNIT vice president, at 279-6294.
