FUNNYMAN John Cleese is the front runner in the race to play Dr Who in a full-length film based on the classic TV sci-fi series.
Movie moguls are hoping to persuade the former Fawlty Towers star out of showbiz retirement—after rejecting ALL of the actors who have piloted the Tardis on telly.
Former Dr Who Colin Baker says: "I would love to have played Dr Who in a feature film.
"But the only person they seem to want is John Cleese."
Dr Who, The Movie is being made by the Coast To Coast company, who have cast sexy actress Carolyn Monroe as the doctor's companion.
The film is due out in November—to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the first TV episode.
