[edit]

ONE OF the most star-studded charity productions ever staged will be presented at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on December 16. Sponsored by Clover Leaf Products, it is in aid of the Brooklands Primary School Swimming Pool Fund and the Save London's Theatres Campaign.

It will take the form of a production of "Cinderella," produced by John Nathan-Turner of the BBC, and will feature Anne Rogers in the title role, Nicky Henson as Buttons, Sheila Hancock as Prince Mark, Bryan Pringle and Victor Madders as the Ugly Sisters, James Bree and John Normington as the Broker's Men, Faith Brook as Fairy Mirazel, Moray Watson as Carabosse, Jan Waters as the Prince's Valet, Stephanie Voss as Alice, Peter Gilmore as Herald, Hermione Baddeley as the Duchess of Bookaroff, Simon Oates as Baron Hardup and Nigel Stock as the Duke of Bookaroff.

Just as star-studded are the minor roles. For instance, Peter O'Toole is an attendant at the gate and Bernard Lee is a herald. Villagers are played by Hilary Crane, Noel Edmonds, Teddy Green, Maggie Hanley, Edward Hardwicke, Barry Justice, Sara Kestelman, Sue Nicholls, Sheila Reid, Norman Rodway, Dennis Waterman and Penelope Wilton. Bill McGuirk, Myrtle Moss and Roy Purcell are huntsmen and hunts-women. Barry Brown and Dominic Guard are friends of Buttons, and the fairies are Isla Blair, Gay Cameron, Jane Carr, Claire Davenport, Sarah Golding, Anita Graham, Mary Healey, Cherish Mellor, Vanessa Miles, Cheryl Murray, Jan Servais and Mela White. Peter Byrne and Alan Stratford Johns play policemen, and among the guests at the ball are Joss Ackland, Isabel Dean, Susan Hampshire, Godfrey James, Richard Leech, Charlotte Mitchell, Donald Sinden, Robert Stephens, Richard Briers, Partrick Cargill, Jane Wenham. Elaine Stritch and Sonia Williams.
