[edit]

After all the hype and fanfare for the first episode, now comes the serious business of trying to build an audience among an age-group that has come to understand, via Harry Potter, that small people can battle monsters all by themselves, thank t you very much. Christopher Eccleston's dynamic presence as the Doctor is a major coup, however, and tonight's episode sees him taking Billie Piper's Rose far into the future to witness the end of the world.
